Steelcase approached InnovationSpace to explore a deceptively simple question: What might the STEM classroom of the future look like?

Over the course of a full academic year, students worked alongside a Steelcase representative to investigate how emerging approaches to STEM education might reshape the spaces and objects that support learning. Student teams developed concepts at multiple scales, designing both furniture, classroom environments, and branded digital experiences while responding to the opportunities and constraints of a real-world industry partnership.

The extended timeline allowed the project to move beyond a single design exercise. Students developed and refined their ideas through sustained collaboration, feedback, and iteration, treating the classroom as an interconnected system rather than simply a collection of desks and chairs.
