In my current position as co-director of InnovationSpace at Arizona State University’s Design School, I spend the bulk of my days working with students and professional and academic colleagues, reimaging what education can do as an agent of change. As I do this, I tend to find cool designs worth sharing. Sometimes, a lot of thoughts fly through my head. This is where these thoughts and ideas finally land. All opinions are mine and mine alone.

playing with your food

August 27, 2018

based on post found on Colossal

What It Is: Flat lay photographs made of food, leaves, and rocks.
Who Designed It: Kristen Meyer is a multimedia artist working primarily in household-found objects, including food, foliage, and various bits of broken things. Her career has spanned interior decorating, floral design, and window design/prop styling.

Why It's Cool: One, she's playing with food, which is always cool. Two, she's creating simple patterns using repetition and scale by varying the types of food used. Three, she doesn't go out to purchase materials for her art—it's all right there in front of her, whether in her kitchen, garden, or neighborhood. In other words, she gives herself time to explore what she can do with what she has. Simplicity at its best.
